Hear about best practices, measures of success, how companies choose their social media channels, and how SWE is using social media to engage companies, members and partner organizations. You know you’re “supposed” to have a mentor, coach and sponsor, but does having them really make a difference? How do you actually find them? In this session, Erica will explore and practice how to seek out the best people to be your mentors, coaches and sponsors. She’ll clarify the different value each can provide and how to make the most of such relationships, and she’ll review best practices for finding and keeping them. She’ll also work with attendees to develop action plans for inviting and creating a network of mentors, coaches and sponsors.


Reflections on the United State of Women Summit

Kim will reflect upon her observations, experiences and discoveries in the United State of Women Summit that took place in June of 2016 in Washington, D.C. The summit was hosted by the White House, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Aspen Institute. The summit was dedicated to discussing a number of topics, including economic empowerment, equal pay for equal work, women's health, women's education, violence against women, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.

Have you ever received feedback “You are too nice!” or “You don’t push back!” at your workplace? Do you feel your generosity is being taken advantage of by others at your workplace? Organizational psychologists suggest that our workplace is made up of 3 kinds of people: givers, takers and matchers. As women, we tend to be a giver, especially to requests that bring greater good to our community. Tse Tse will discuss the importance and success of givers.  She’ll talk about how you can foster generosity in your workplace, and how to protect givers from burnout and becoming pushovers.Are you a giver or taker at the workplace?


How Do Film, Television, and Other Media Influence Girls to Pursue STEM?

What types of female STEM role models do girls see in television, film, and other forms of media today?  Are they represented at all?  What types of roles do they play?  Which fields are represented?  Kim will explore what the current STEM media landscape looks like, what plans are for the future, and how STEM and media professionals can work together to expand female STEM roles in media.


Crafting a Professional Social Media Presence

Monica will provide an overview of three social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. She’ll describe how they are best used and talk about different features and security. She’ll also discuss how companies are using social media to recruit and showcase company culture and accomplishments.

Keysight Speakers / Panelists

Kim Bishop, Keysight Mechanical R&D Engineer

Kim studied mechanical engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She earned her BSME degree in 1999. She joined Agilent Technologies (now Keysight) in 2000 as a Mechanical Production Engineer. She moved into an R&D role in 2005 and continues in that job. She has played a key planning role in Keysight's Introduce a Girl to Engineering outreach event since 2004.


Monica Harrison, Keysight R&D IC Engineer

Monica is member of SWE and works for Keysight as an R&D Engineer focused on Semiconductor Reliability. Monica has a BSEE from SFSU.  She joined Keysight (then Agilent) in 2010. She has been passionate about supporting woman in engineering throughout her career, but since working for Keysight has really found the support to let that passion thrive.


Erica Messinger, MBA, Keysight Worldwide

Erica is the Director of Keysight’s Worldwide University Program. She has 18+ years’ experience in program management, sales channel management and technical marketing in the electronics test and measurement industry. Erica has a BS EE from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MBA from the University of Colorado, and a long history supporting women in engineering. She benefits regularly from mentoring relationships and attributes her current dream job to having been sponsored.


Tse Tse Teh, Keysight Support Engineer Supervisor

Tse Tse was born and raised in Malaysia, and moved to the United States as a young adult. In addition to learning a second language, she has learned to integrate and optimize her collective mindset. She leads a team of twenty-one members, providing post-sale services on Keysight instruments.
