Job Description

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply measurement science, mathematics, and physics to develop, document and maintain calibration systems, procedures, methods and applications for electrical inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) based on analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements.
  • Use statistics to analyze measurement standards and processes.
  • Maintain calibration laboratory and/or departmental accreditation, and quality system.
  • Collaborate with National Metrology Institutes to develop and validate unique/new measurement application and methodologies.
  • Develop mechanical measurement methods and techniques for new products using state-of-the-art contact and non-contact measuring equipment and related software.
  • Setup, monitor, calibrate, and train other engineers and technicians on the operation of measurement equipment.
  • Evaluate new tools and/or software.
  • Troubleshoot causes of process failures and out of control/spec conditions.
  • Work closely with personnel responsible for other processes and organizations.
  • Provide metrology support: includes new equipment setup / qualification / release for use / training / development of procedures and measurement correlation activities for multiple locations.

Job Qualifications

 

Requirements

 

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong technical writing capability and solid communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, commitment to task, creativity in problem solving.
  • Work collaboratively to solve difficult technical problems.
  • Familiarity with Windows OS, PC architecture.
  • In depth knowledge of mechanical and dimensional measurements.
  • Be familiar with the ISO 17025 and/or Z-540-1 standards and the process of accreditation.
  • Have knowledge and interest in the field of metrology and associated activities such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Statistics and precision physical dimensional measurements.
