Job Description

Analog Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer

Join the Keysight team that develops state of the art mixed-signal integrated circuit solutions, enabling performance breakthroughs that differentiate our electronic test and measurement products.  Keysight fosters a collaborative engineering environment which emphasizes teamwork, enthusiasm, and excellence in creating high performance, mixed signal integrated circuits.

You will join a team developing custom ASIC data converter solutions in GHz applications, implementing core ADC and DAC structures, as well as streaming I/O data paths, in CMOS and biCMOS technologies.  We are dedicated to raising the bar by innovating the next generation of high-performance mixed-signal ASICs which power Keysight's instruments. These ASICs will enable the generation and characterization of leading-edge high-speed signals, such as serial links and RF waveforms. Become a part of our team, and you will learn the art of making the world's best measurement ICs.

The successful person in this job will:

•    Have a strong working knowledge of gigahertz clock, DAC, and ADC circuits
•    An understanding of the underlying devices and their parasitics, enabling creative design to push circuit limits
•    Knowledge of efficient techniques for design, simulation, and layout of integrated circuits
•    Experience in a design team, including the ability to communicate well

Ideally this role will be based in Santa Clara, CA, where majority of team is located. But we will consider Santa Rosa, CA or Colorado Springs, CO locations, where we have other team members.

Who is Keysight? We’re driven, curious, and collaborative. We’re obsessed with the future of technology. But we don’t stop there. We are involved. We nurture the next generation of engineers. We help our neighbors and communities across the globe. With a global corporate responsibility framework for ethical, environmentally-sustainable, and socially-responsible operations, we are singularly focused on connecting and securing the world for a better planet.

Job Qualifications

Education:  Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field, with thesis work on mixed-signal IC design preferred, or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with substantial experience in IC design required.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience working on high speed circuits in advanced CMOS process nodes
  • Experience must include at least one cycle of transistor level design, physical design, and silicon verification
  • Experience with at least the 65 nm process node.  Prefer 28 nm or newer
  • Experience with mixed signal building blocks and integrated systems, including PLLs, DACs, Serializers, ADCs, or wideband amplifiers
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity and EM issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, and ability to document and present results

A strong candidate will also:

  • Experience with device modelling, thermal design, and IC package design
  • Experience designing custom GHz digital circuits
  • Experience with mixed-mode simulation of analog and digital blocks, including behavioral modeling of analog circuits, using tools like Verilog or VerilogA for simulation
  • Have familiarity with programming and scripting languages to enable automation in the design, simulation, and testing of ICs
  • Experience with synthesized digital design flows, using RTL descriptions to deliver verified netlists for physical synthesis
