<span style="font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">This job is in NPMD (Nano-Positioning Metrology Division) where we design, develop and manufacture the world’s most precise displacement measurement instruments used to control motion in semiconductor equipment making the world’s next generation ICs, microprocessors, and flash memory chips. Your work will advance the state of the art of precision measurement – imagine the excitement you’ll feel as you push the boundary into picometer territory.


<span style="font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">In this role you will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team of R&D engineers developing distance measuring systems based on laser interferometry as well as dedicated laser illumination systems for selected life science applications.  As a designer you will develop analog and mixed signal circuits and firmware to control lasers of various technologies starting with system level specifications, and culminating with fully qualified products.

Job Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (experience in Physics desired)
  • Minimum of 4 years HW design experience; 5 to 8 years preferred
  • Experience in RF and analog design (DC to 500MHz)
  • Familiar with basic principles of digital signal processing
  • Experience in designing control systems
  • Expertise in schematic layout tools;  DX Designer preferred
  • Knowledge with one or more of the following tools preferred: SPICE for analog, Mathematica , or Maple.
  • Firmware/SW required: experienced in C and Verilog
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral


  • Experience with optical products including lasers
