The position is for a Cloud SW Technical Writer for the PathWave Cloud team.  This team is responsible for accelerating internal cloud product development and providing an open platform for our partners and customers to build and integrate their distributed solutions.  We will be working with internal and external pilot customers and are beginning the build-out of our platform. 

Your responsibility will be to architect, coordinate, and partially write documentation for two different audiences.  One audience is adopters of the PathWave Cloud platform.  These documents are very technical in nature and involve documenting APIs and internal software architecture.  A second audience is user documentation (typically involving web-based GUIs), for users of common components products by the PathWave Cloud team. You will be working with other Keysight Learning Product Engineers located around the world.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, author, and edit user documentation including the documentation of product architecture and GUIs.
  • Architect, author, and edit developer documentation including the documentation of APIs.
  • Coordinate as needed with other technical writers, development engineers, support engineers, management, …
  • Elicit product, task flow, and domain information from developers; capture it in the documentation and validate it via your own testing, and subject-matter expert reviews.
  • Capture documentation requirements, determining the structure of needed documentation, tools to be used, deployment strategies for documentation, etc.
  • Conform to, and contribute to, organizational processes for documentation. Create and refine processes when organizational processes don't exist or are not appropriate.
  • Advocate for the user by reviewing user interfaces, representing the user in team discussions, and identifying opportunities to improve usability (first) and documentation (second).

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree or University Degree or equivalent.
  • Typically 4-5+ years relevant experience In technical SW documentation 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to organize technical information to produce user/developer documentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing agile environment, with biweekly sprints, quarterly documentation releases, and frequent re-prioritization.
  • Programming experience and/or experience documenting programming interfaces
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly, concisely, accurately, and in a manner appropriate to the audience, including the development of illustrations as necessary; ability to re-cast technical information as task-oriented procedures
  • Ability to solicit initial information and review feedback from engineers, including negotiation and enforcement of review schedules.
  • Ability to create documentation based on product designs that are evolving; planning skills to determine the best use of time when designs are changing
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively across organizations and geographies
  • Ability to prioritize effectively

 

Desired Skills : 

  • Experience creating electronic user assistance such as web help, CHM help, or wiki content
  • Experience with document generation tools such as doxygen, Document!X, or Sandcastle
  • Experience with multiple help authoring tools (our current toolset includes Confluence, MadCap Flare, and Doxygen)
  • Experience in writing for Cloud-based applications
  • Familiarity with some of the following topics: Agile, Angular, Argo, ArgoCD, Artifactory, Auth N/Z, AWS, Azure, Basalmic, Bash, BitBucket, Confluence, Containers, CSS, DevOps, Docker, Draw IO, Excel, Fliki, GCP, GIT, GitOps, Go, Grafana, Harbor, Helm, HTML, Jenkins/JaaS, JIRA, Keycloak, Linux, Longhorn, Markdown, NATS, Nest, NGINX-Ingress, Notepad++, NPM, OpenApi, Pendo, Powerpoint, Prometheus, Rancher, SCPI, Scrum, Slack, SnagIt, StackOverflow, Swagger, Teams, Visio, Visual Studio, VS Code, Waterfall, WebEx, Yaml
