Job Description

Background

The Aerospace Defense Custom Systems team (ADCS) has been growing at a significant rate for many years. Continuation of this growth will depend on the ability of the business development personnel to create new opportunities for ADCS systems and products with both new and existing customer communities.

In support of this growth the ADCS team is looking for a new contributor, with an engineering background, to work as part of the business development team. Initially the successful candidate will be responsible for the generation of winning proposals for RF and digital test systems for Aerospace Defense customers.  Over time the role will expand to include more proactive business development which will necessitate visiting customers to understand their needs and identify possible solutions that Keysight can successfuly deliver.

 

Initial Responsibilities

  • Gain familiarity with the proposal generation processes within ADCS and the requirements of Aerospace Defense customers.
  • Develop close relationships with Keysight's outbound business development manager and sales engineers to understand customer technical and business requirements and relate these to ADCS capabilities.
  • Develop storyboards for system proposals (as appropriate) and work with the engineering team to develop proposals to meet the identified requirements.
  • Work with customer facing team to develop win strategies for each proposal and to understand the competitive landscape.
  • Develop cost estimates based on previous projects and engineering judgement, understand cost sensitivity and, together with the customer facing team, use these to develop pricing strategies.
  • Structure and implement an effective review process for each proposal
Job Qualifications

 

This critical roles requires the following:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree or University Degree in engineering or technical discipline or equivalent
  • 4-5+ years relevant experience in business development
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of the aerospace defense industry and ability to work independently
  • Based on customer requirements, US Citizenship Required


Key Skills:

 1.  Proposal Generation Skills: 

Demonstrated ability to generate compelling proposals and understand engineering content. Ability to compare estimates with previous projects and solutions in order to provide a complete and accurate priced proposal.
Proven skills in writing and presenting proposals
Experience developing cost estimates, understanding cost sensitivity and developing pricing strategies
2. Effective verbal and written Communication skills

Ability to produce a proposal that clearly demonstrates Keysight’s commitment to the customer and the reasons why Keysight is the best solution. Ability to interface with customers in a confident and clear manner

3. Competitive Understanding

Ability to understand the key Keysight differentiator,  generate a proposal that will make that clear and compelling and thereby win systems deals. Proven experience developing product pitches/value statements.   Experience with Market/competitor analysis is preferred

4. Customer relationships – personal relationships with customers and sales personnel sufficient to understand the competitive advantage and ensure that the customer wants to work with ADCS. Strong Customer engagement and ability to perform needs analysis  

5.  Must have an engineering/technical background with experience in Electrical or Software Engineering markets; RF background would be an added plus.

6. Experience dealing with DOD, working on Aerospace/Defense Projects, with knowledge of the EMD, SRR, PDR and CDR processes.
